How to Draw a Kitten
It is not easy to draw kittens. First of all, kittens are small, and secondly, they are very active. Drawing a kitten might take a lot of time, and to get a kitten to sit still for even a minute is impossible. Therefore, it is rare for kittens to be drawn from real life. When you draw a kitten, you should try to capture at least the general shape, and other details can be finished from memory. You can draw a kitten or draw a realistic Cat from real life in stages. At first, draw the general outline of a kitten sitting still, then focus on its head and feet. Finally, if your drawing looks pale, you might want to add color with crayons. The fur of a kitten can have many different shades, even the most unexpected colors. In this lesson we will learn how to draw a kitten in #2 pencil.
Let's draw a kitten lying on its back. As always, begin by drawing the basic contours of the body, head, and legs. Remember, it is better to use the technique of interlocking circles and lines in this initial step.
According to the primary contours circle the body of the kitten. Feel free to draw lines arbitrarily because minor mistakes won't be seen since a kitten is fluffy. Follow the proportions of the body closely though. The kitten's legs should be the same in length and thickness. The head should not be too big or small.
Erase all unnecessary lines of the figure and work on the details of the kitten's snout and legs. At this point, use weak pencil strokes, as you might still need to correct them. Most importantly, be careful with the placement of the eyes, the nose and the mouth. You might want to review more pictures of kittens to guide you in your drawing. Draw the muzzle right - it is the most important part. Take your time in drawing the eyes, the mouth and the nose, and then complete the kitten's muzzle. Add whiskers.
After you finish working on the snout, double-check the proportions of the kitten's body and proceed to the final phase. Work on the paws and add claws. Finish the drawing by coloring it in with pencils. Paints can be used too, but only if you have some prior experience with them.
While I simply shaded in my drawing with #2 pencil, I recommend using colored pencils. This way, the picture of a kitten will be more lively and impressive. By the way, you can also draw the surrounding environment, which should not be too busy so as not to detract attention from the kitten. You can draw just the general shapes using #2 pencil. I hope you found this lesson on how to draw kitten helpful.
